BIOGRAPHY : Matthew Racher was brought up on a healthy diet of Zappa, Hendrix, Talking Heads, Steely Dan and Led Zeppelin. Eventually he discovered the likes of Nirvana, Soundgarden and the Beastie Boys for himself; there were others but he rarely mentions Vanilla Ice, 5 Star or…

Having fallen in love with music Matthew needed an outlet and eventually set about the drums. Jamming along with the afore mentioned A list of 90’s rock as well as The Beatles White Album and the occasional drop of Poison and Bon Jovi gave him the feeling that music was something that he wanted to make a living from and Matthew was eventually lucky enough to make his way to the Musicians Institute. A year of focused education introduced him to technique and the value of good time keeping and he has endeavoured to nurture both ever since. 

Most valuable from his time at the MI was an introduction to people that wanted to create music as well as play the music of others and a succession of London based original projects that included Shatner, Citizen Zero and Scully helped open his ears to arrangement, structure and songs. Further educational guidance from the exceptional Steve White, continued personal study and exploration of drum programming has enabled Matthew to move between a huge variety of live situations and studio sessions as he continues to learn.
