 JP Bouvet - Meinl's Newest Endorsee

Meinl Cymbals is extremely proud to announce that JP Bouvet, the 2011 Guitar Center Drum Off National Champion, is now a part of the Meinl Cymbal Family.
This is the third year in a row that the Guitar Center Drum Off National Champion has chosen Meinl cymbals as his favorite sound for the future. The 2009 winner, Ramon Sampson and the 2010 winner, Isaias Gil both both knew going in to the grand finals that if they won, they would choose to play Meinl Cymbals. Now, the 2011 winner JP Bouvet has done the same.
A native of Lakeville, MN, JP juggles his studies as a student at the prestigious Berklee College of Music in Boston, MA with multiple drum duties that include recording and international touring with his band Helicopria and working as an online session drummer.
In addition to his nabbing the national champion title for the 2011 GC Drum Off, JP also won the 2011 Roland US V-Drums contest and scored second place in the international finals.

 Meinl's 60th Anniversary Celebrations

The weekend of Saturday 3rd and Sunday 4th September saw the gathering of 400 plus guests at Meinl’s headquarters in Gutenstetten, Germany for the Companies 60th anniversary celebrations.
Saturday started off with a tour of the new multi purpose facility, completed only a week previously, housing 5,400 square foot showroom and 20,000 foot additional warehouse and multi purpose space. A tour of Meinl’s state of the art, full automated high bay logistics centre and cymbal factory followed. The evening festivities started with a champagne reception followed by a 4 course gala dinner. Speeches by Roland Meinl, Benny Grebb and number of other guests, all sharing their stories of Meinl over the last 60 years filled the evening. The evening came to end with an outdoor performance by Power Percussion and an amazing fireworks display.
Sunday morning was a recovery day for all the hearty souls who had partied into the early hours, with a number of activities on offer. There was a choice of a golf taster lesson and mini tournament, entry into the Meinl golf cup or for those who wanted a more relaxed approach to their Sunday, the option of several local site seeing excursions.
A great time was had by all and a massive thank you goes to all the Meinl family for a fantastic weekend.

Drum Festival chapter seven – and following Moscow 2009, the second international run… this time with a big impact in Mexico City!
More than 1500 visitors attended the Teatro Metropolitain Theatre in Mexico City to witness unbelivable performances from Isaias Gil, Levith Vega, Derek Roddy, Carlos Sanchez, Johnny Rabb, Thomas Lang, Chris Coleman and Luis Conte. This all culminated in making the Meinl Drum Festival 2011 a first and very extraordinary event for Mexico City and the international drumming community.
